Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has evolved remarkably over the past century. While the 14 indications recognized by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) remain the internationally accepted standard for many healthcare systems, clinical experience and research continue to expand worldwide.
Across Europe, physicians following selected recommendations from the European Committee for Hyperbaric Medicine (ECHM/EUBS community) have contributed additional clinical guidance for carefully selected conditions based on evolving scientific evidence and expert consensus.
Beyond these internationally recognized standards, several countries—including China, Russia, Cuba, Turkey, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and other emerging centers of hyperbaric medicine—have accumulated decades of clinical experience using HBOT across a broader range of medical conditions. These practices reflect each country’s healthcare system, research priorities, regulatory framework, and clinical expertise.
At AHLS, we believe that progress in medicine begins with curiosity, scientific inquiry, and responsible knowledge sharing.
Our HBOT World Clinical Library was created to help healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors better understand how hyperbaric medicine is being practiced and studied around the world. It brings together information from internationally respected organizations, published scientific literature, and selected clinical experiences from leading hyperbaric centers.
Our objective is not to promote unproven treatments or replace established medical guidelines, but to encourage informed discussion and continuous learning as hyperbaric medicine continues to evolve.
